Over 30 keen riders turned out for the MTB Wagga skills day and were taken through a series of activities to improve cornering skills, climbing techniques, hopping over logs or other obstacles and choosing correct lines for riding drop offs.
Riders were divided into 3 groups; beginners, intermediate and advanced and all went away having learned at least one or two new things. It was great to see lots of new faces including a large contingent from Bicycle Wagga Wagga and lots of younger kids out enjoying the session.
Most people hung around at the end to get some great tips from Andrew Treloar from the Wagga Cycle Centre on bike maintenance and basic mechanicals. There were plenty of cold drinks, fruit and sausage sandwiches to satisfy the appetites of hungry riders after being taken through their paces.
A huge thanks to the following MTB Wagga members who led the rides and helped out on the day: Ben Murphy, Andrew Treloar, Dan Davies, Rob Gray, Rob Vaughn, Angela Farrell, Paul Johanson, Sam Shiphard and Pete Johnson.

The surgery was good on my shoulder so I will be able to help with the skills day. I will not be able to demonstrate a crash though.
Your crash demonstrations are normally what have the crowds flocking in to our skills days Michael. You will have to find a suitable crash test dummy to replace you in that particular component!!!
Pete?
Rob Housden. He’ll create a lot of dust and show the correct way to fall so that you only injure yourself and not the bike.
