2011/2012 Calendar of Events

2012 MTB Wagga Winter Series Dates

  • Cost is $5 + MTBA licence or MTBA Day licence for $15 ($5 entry includes a free BBQ at the end of the race)
  • There will be a 90 minute and 45 minute option and most venues will also have a Beginner/Under 12?s track which will be a 30 minute ride.
  • The track will be approximately 5-7 km in length and riders will aim to do as many laps as they can in the time frame. Laps completed after the time has elapsed will count.
  • There will be male and female open and male and female junior categories in the 90 min and 45 min events.

Round 2: Sunday 24th June

Round 3: Sunday 15th July (Wagga RAMBO round – 3hr and 1.5 hr enduro format)

Round 4: Sunday 19th August – CANCELLED AND TO BE REPLACED BY A SOCIAL RIDE

Round 5: Sunday 16th September – CANCELLED AND TO BE REPLACED BY A SOCIAL RIDE

Round 6: Sunday 21st October (Tumut)

2012 Interclub RAMBO (Riverina Alpine Mountain Bike Open) Series

  • Please note that this is not a series for Elite level riders but is open to all club members who wish to enjoy riding other local club tracks, meet new people and have some fun. All levels of riders are catered for with the various categories.
  • This series is between Wagga, Albury, Bright, Mt Beauty and Beechworth
  • This year the format is a 3 hr or 1.5 enduro on a track approximately 6-8km in length. Please note it also included teams this year.
  • Series details will be posted on the Albury Wodonga MTB website http://www.alburywodongamtb.org.au/rambo/  and event reminders will be posted on the MTB Wagga website in the lead up to each ride.

  • Proposed categories and race fees are set out below. Please note that if you think you will make it to 2 or more events in the series, it will be worthwhile entering before the first round to save money on entry fees. In addition to the entry fee, you will need to purchase a day licence for $20 if you do not have an MTBA licence.

2011/2012 Summer Series

The popular Summer Series events will run again on Tuesday evenings commencing at 6:30pm at Pomi, with rego open from 6pm. This will be a handicap event where you will do a set number of short 2-4 km laps in a 30-45 minute time frame. The track will be relatively flat with nothing technical so is ideal for kids and beginners to come and try mountain biking in a fun and friendly atmosphere. An MTBA licence is required or else a day licence for $15 will need to be purchased (Please note that Under 12′s can purchase a full MTBA licence for $45,  so if they are likely to ride 3 or more events, this will be a good cost saving option) .  Lock in these dates  for the 2011/2012 Summer Series and watch the website for specific details of each round.

MTB Wagga Winter Sprint Series

  • Following on from the success of the Summer Series, the Winter Sprint Series will take on the same format – a handicap event where riders complete between 2 and 5 laps of a 2-3 km easy track. This should take between 20 and 30 minutes
  • Starting times and specific location at Pomi will be provided shortly by Michael Loughlin who has again volunteered to run this series.
  • Cost is free for MTBA members or $15 for those who require a day licence.

RAMBO (Riverina Alpine Mountain Bike Open) Series

  • Please note that this is not a series for Elite level riders but is open to all club members who wish to enjoy riding other local club tracks, meet new people and have some fun. All levels of riders are catered for with the various categories.
  • This series is between Wagga, Albury, Bright, Mt Beauty and Beechworth
  • Further details will be posted on the AWMTB website  http://www.alburywodongamtb.org.au/rambo/ The format generally involves you choosing a category based on how many laps you would like to complete of a 5-7 km course.

PAST EVENTS

2011 MTB Wagga Tumut 3 Hour Enduro will be held on Sunday 1st May from 12:00 to 3:00. More details on event website to come soon.

MTB Wagga Summer Series (see more details below). Dates for 2011 are 18/1, 1/2 and 15/2. Extra Rounds: 1/3 and 15/3.

Sunday 27th February 90 minute Enduro on the 6 hour track. This is warm up/trial event on the Pomingalarna 6 Hour course  and a great opportunity for riders to race the 6 Hour course prior to March 27th.

2011 MTB Wagga 6 Hour Enduro will be held on Sunday 27th March from 9:30am – 3:30pm. More details on official event website to come soon.

2010/2011 Summer Series

These rides commence at 6:30pm, with rego open from 6pm. The first 3 will be held at Pominglarna Reserve. The second 3 will be held at Pomingalarna Reserve due to track damgaew from flooding at Brick Kiln Reserve. A different part of Pomi will be used to the first 3 rounds. Details will be posted on front page of website.

Sunday 21st February – Social Ride at Tumut

Meet 9am at Tumut MTB Park (Sydney street near State Forest Sign). Tumut riders will take different level groups of riders on their fantastic MTB tracks and will finish with a BBQ lunch. More info on main webpage to come.

Summer Series Calender 2009/2010

The Summer Series will be back again in 2009/2010 and will be held on Thursday nights starting at 6:30pm. This is always a very relaxed and casual event and gives riders the opportunity to catch up after work or school and ride for 30-40 mins at the most on some fun, short courses. It’s also a great way for kids and beginners to start mountain bike riding.

This year the event will be run on a handicap system with a set distance to be ridden and no formal timing. There will be 2 venues used: Brick Kiln Reserve in November and December and the new Silvalite Reserve loop in January and February (pending formal approval from the Dept of Lands).

Dan Davies and Ben Murphy will be the main organisers of the event but will have plenty of assistance from the club committee. More details to follow, but for now lock these dates into your calendar:
